What's the big deal?! It's just clothes...

"What is the big deal... it's just clothes. Who cares how much of my body I show off, it IS a free country you know. I'm not hurting myself or anyone else with my clothing. Good grief."

All too often, this is something you my hear. I even thought it when I was younger. It's my body and it's not like the clothes I'm wearing is THAT bad. Well, sure. Technically no. You're not hurting yourself or anyone around you, physically.

I can't wait until we release our promo video we shot for Values First- it's coming out the first week of August. We had a couple of guest interviews, one of which was  Dr. Slavik. She spoke about the different studies that have been done on the effects of constantly seeing these type of images in ads and how constantly being surrounded by "too much skin" can have different effects on adolescents. It really creates a shift in their way of thinking.

You know how after you watch a racing movie, you feel the need to drive home differently than you normally would? Constantly being surrounded by sexy fashion ads and ladies bearing too much skin can have the same effect on our psyche.

Dressing modestly doesn't mean you're forgoing the attractive card too. It really is the highest form of self-respect out there. Know why? Because you're telling men, and women, that you aren't defined by how much skin you show them. You're defined by your mind, personality, heart, & character. Some of the sexiest people in the world can put off that vibe in a t-shirt. Save all that skin for your husband or your wife to see. Trust me, they'll love and respect you even more.

So check out why Shira (happily married I might add)  loves Values First and why she's a member.
