What YOU can learn from this 3 year old.

What YOU can learn from this 3 year old.

Seriously, little Miss CaliAlicia is adorable. It's not just her infectious smile, her long hair, or the fact that she's proportioned well. Those are all physical attributes, which are lovely to have, but her beauty isn't just why she shines.

What I'm talking about is her energy & heart. Little Miss CaliAlicia absolutely is the poster child for a Values First lady-in-training. If you look below, you can totally tell in photo #3 what this girl is made of. All smiles, confidence, & ready to take on the world. What was your attitude when you got out of bed this morning?

Her favorite things to do are: helping her mom cook (especially cracking eggs, adding spices and mixing), helping her papi work on anything that needs fixing because she loves playing with his tools, swimming, camping, and hiking, and playing with her shopkins and dollhouse. She loves seeing American flags “swishing in the wind” and makes sure to point them all out when we are driving.

CaliAlicia is participating in a special kind of pageant, the Miss Clothespin Pageant at:

Her Mom, Paula, specifically reached out to Values First to be a sponsor, here's what she had to say about why:

"We (my husband & I) felt this would be a great opportunity to show what is most important to our family with advertising the name itself! We don’t want this involvement with the pageant to be about the glitz/glam but about setting a good example for others about what is really important. We want to raise our daughter’s (2nd one on the way) to first and foremost love our Lord, be respectful, honest, and modest. We feel that those attributes are what is most important in life. This world has become so much about the “flesh” and satisfying it that society and especially women, feel they need to fulfill that standard by what they wear and how much makeup is on their face. I want our daughters to set a different trend and prove they can make an even bigger impact with their confidence in the Lord, the kindness and love in their heart and words!

Thank you so much Values First for sponsoring our little girl! We respect your goals and pray we make a positive impact and represent you well!"

Why is the Miss Clothespin pageant so special?

"it is all about natural beauty and personality. The contestant only needs to wear one dress, any type of dress is allowed including Sunday’s best, natural, semiglitz, and glitz, and the winner is crowned with her age group."

How does this experience correlate with the Values First mission?

"I believe this is all very important for her future and self worth because I feel she will view herself as more than just what people can see but she will focus more on her heart and the words she speaks which can have a greater impact. Her decisions would be more focused on the positive impact her words and kindness can make rather than how much skin she can show (or get away with showing if she is a teen)."

Why is it important for ya'll to dress her modestly?

"The reason we dress her modestly is because we want her to be raised with a sense of respect for herself and her body. We don’t want people to look at her for how much skin is exposed and her body type but look her in her eyes when they speak to her and be able to see her beautiful, brilliant mind and soul and the love she has for the Lord in her heart! CaliAlicia has started picking out her own clothes in the past couple of months. She loves anything that is a dress with ruffles and/or tulle and loves all boots. She has said a couple times after putting on a dress, “now I look pretty” but every time I remind her that her clothes are not what makes her “pretty” but her kindness is what does it and she is always pretty to us. I pray that always sticks in her mind."

Why are ya'll interested in having her do pageants & why do you think she'll take home the crown?

"CaliAlicia loves to be on stage. She is a part of the KC and the Sunshine Gang Drama Group in our church and she absolutely loves it! You can see her personality shine on stage and I definitely don’t want to hold her back if that’s something she chooses to continue to enjoy. We believe that CaliAlicia has always been naturally confident and she loves to cheer on and encourage others even for the littlest things! This might also be because we constantly do that for her in anything positive that she does. We also have a great group of friends and church family that are a great support!

CaliAlicia is only 3 years old but we have never met a child at her age who had such a big, energetic personality and who was so honest! She will tell on herself even if we didn’t see her commit the crime! We love this about her and encourage her to continue being this way. She is such a happy soul and really it just seeps out of her! Our goal is not to suppress her personality and energy (although she can exhaust us) but to always encourage her to be who God made her! CaliAlicia is always always always talking and wanting to talk and does not know a stranger. We feel that her love for people, her confidence and high energy will reach many people in a positive way. We hope that this is what is seen when she walks out on that stage and that’s what will make her take home the crown!"
